Who can forget the imaginative creatures and their habitat in the dark? Maurice Sendak's Where the Wild Things Are tells the story of a young boy whose misbehaviour gets him sent to bed early by his mother. Once there, he imagines escaping to the world of the Wild Things, a place that, once visited, becomes a destination visited many times over. From the Publisher Max is sent to bed without supper and imagines sailing away to the land of Wild Things, where he is made king. Where the Wild Things Are Reviewer: Tara Pack from Toronto (tarapack@realnet.ca) Date: 11/17/2000 10:38:23 AM Although this is a children's book, it has been and always will be one of my favorites. I think for children and adults alike it allows the exploration of imagination. You can relate to Max's desire to escape to where he is King, where he can do anything he likes and to not have to give into rules. It reminds us that we all have a little bit of wildness in us while at the sametime reminding us that when all is said and done home is still where we like to be. :) 2. Where the Wild Things Are Reviewer: Liz Daley from Waterloo Date: 11/8/2000 11:24:10 PM I can remember having this read to me as a kid. It was by far my favourite story. I must have checked it out of the library at least 100 times. Max's adventures give children a taste of the extraordinary...a necessity in a world dominated by the reality of money and material things. I want a copy to be able to read to my children one day so as to share part of my childhood with them. 3. Where The Wild Things Are Reviewer: Karen Reid from Mississauga, Ontario Date: 11/5/2000 9:38:02 AM This is a classic story...a definate must read! Every child loves Max's adventures!
